The day is finally here.

The day is finally here. I've been dreading it for months now. It's worse than I thought. I wanted this to be a "Glad to be alive" Day, but it is awfully hard to do that when the televised rollcall of the dead takes almost two hours. It stunned me, staggering in its length and depth, causing me to sob. The names, names, names, names. A litany of loss. Fathers and sons, the peoples of all backgrounds and nationalities, all now ashes, dust. It is unbearable and my chest aches. I cannot imagine what this day must be like for the families, nor do I want to.
